Meet Molly!

Â
Hi! This is Molly! Molly was diagnosed with Rett in November of 2021. A few things about what Rett is, Rett syndrome is a rare genetic neurological disorder that affects 1 in 10,000 females. Rett syndrome leads to severe impairments, affecting nearly every aspect of life: ability to speak, walk, eat and breathe easily. Rett syndrome is sporadic and randomly occurs due to a mutation in the MECP2 gene.
Sweet Molly is a tough cookie and takes all the impairments in stride. She is happy and loving, she gives the best smiles and giggles! A few of Mollys’ favorite things are music and silly songs with dad! She currently attends dance, horseback riding, preschool, PT, OT and speech. We are anxiously awaiting an assistive communication device to help her speak for herself. Rett is one small part of what makes Molly who she is, and it does not define her.Â
We are so thankful to our wonderful friends that have created this event to donate to Rett research. There are many new and exciting discoveries going on right now, and we are so happy for the hope that they bring!
Thank you for your support of the Westbury Open!
